Gridlock does not treat the sickness. In fact, it only harms the country at its foundation, increasing the underlying disunity and hostility between America's increasingly bitter factions while temporarily slowing the effects of her economic sickness until people whine about how it holds up their handouts. Gridlock never holds for long. It eventually eases and allows the nation to continue its leftward slide. It has its place, but the price for an over reliance upon it is just too high-- though now it is probably all that America has left.
