That isn't what I was getting at. I understand that there are limitations on free speech. You can't openly call for the overthrow of the government.

But, what I was referring to was the fact that if they beefed up law enforcement too much, they might start uncovering too many scandals and corruption that affects people in high places. The last thing the people who run this country want is a police force so strong that they uncover every last kick back scheme and scam going on out there, it would come back to bite them. There's a gold mine of corruption just in the Pentagon. 1/4 of the Pentagon's funding can't be accounted for each year. Some people within the military who have a moral conscience have from time to time tried to find out where all the money is going, but to no avail. They were stonwalled and stopped at every point. There's just too much money involved. It makes the mob look like a bunch of two bit clowns. I mean, the kick back schemes and other forms of theivery surrounding the defense establishment is enormous. A serious investigation into where all the money sent to Iraq has actually gone would certainly uncover massive fraud and corruption. Do the powers that be really want all this corruption investigated? Hell no! The gravy train must roll on.
