| The concept of doing a rollup of smaller VoIP providers on a grand scale in the form of aggregator has been mulling around since 1997. I know, because I know those who've attempted it and walked away shaking their heads. The sheer level of politics and comlexity, without a giant hammer in hand, is just too much to bear for the margins we're talking about to have to endure, given the many implementations that exist in a mult-vendor environment. ITXC seems to have succeeded at this in the WAN segment with a limited number of well-known players, but to bring such a capability to the end offices is something else entirely. It's akin to doing a rollup of all ISPs, large and small (mom&pops, as well), in general, since all of them, anyway, will be into this game sooner or later, where they are not already in some form. Someone may prove me wrong about this, and if that be the case, more power to them. |
