Stan, Re: BREW and “so is it impossible to guesstimate Qualcomm's quarterly income from Brew----based on the number of downloads and assuming 5-10 minutes a download????”

1. It’s my understanding that the air time to download is a separate charge by the carriers and the Q receives no cut on that.

2. Guestimating the Q’s quarterly BREW income at this time is difficult because of the many variables/ unknowns. We should get a better “feel” in the next few quarters as hopefully QWI revenues increase and we can compare that to the carrier download metric increases.

These are the metrics to watch-

BREW by the Numbers
...........................................................Sept 2003..........April 2004
.......World wide app downloads.........50M+..................100M+

8. Verizon- Wireless Growth Opportunity- Focus on Data
........19 Million downloads in 1Q04

7. KDDI BREW downloads accelerate as more phone are BREW enabled
.......Jan ’04- 0.9M
.......Feb ’04- 1.2M
.......Mar ’04- 1.5M

We appear to be seeing a very significant quarterly sequential growth pattern develop (25%+ Q over Q) which should continue as now 27 operators (vs 10 6 months prior) (including 8 of the top 10 CDMA carriers ) are now deploying BREW

...........................................................Sept 2003..........April 2004
.......Commercial operators.......................10..........................27

Tony Thornley stated words to the effect , in a recent presentation, that the Q believes BREW will produce a good revenue stream, but not comparable to QCT or QTL.
