bible.gen.nz I will always immediately find suspect and look askance at any of the OT descriptions of the sinful ways and inquities of all the other peoples and tribes in that area as described there. I guess it is in one's interpretation of the OT, or OT + NT. Such interpretations vary from "love everybody" to "hate everybody but us" (whoever "we" are, exactly?) imho, and there's a zen paradox right away - it's vain to call oneself humble, if I am supposed to aspire to be least upon this earth, then I cannot pretend that I am worthy to judge it for anything more than what it is. I can certainly not comprehend parts, or even much, of it, but I cannot bring myself to disagree with it. Nor is it the place of the least upon this earth to judge others or insult their interpretations, so I try to avoid doing that as well. But to say that I am righteous for doing so is to exalt myself and no longer be aspiring to be least and the zen paradox rolls on and on...
