I believe, under the same Article, that we violated the UN Charter, to which we are signatories, against pre-emptive wars by members. I have thought that to be an impeachable offense.
I went to a very touching ceremony yesterday for the local WW2 vets. At first, it was a real bummer. The first few guys had to be wheeled up, or represented by a family member. I began internally groaning that we had waited too late (he says, as he looks at his father's ashes). Howsomever, after that, they were pretty spry, and the ranchers still looked like they were ranching. It's amazing how much history there is in just this little area; two towns totaling 7500 people, maybe another 7000 hillbillies like me in an area close to 1000 sq miles. Back then, there were probably only 5000 folks. Yet, yesterday, there were about 50 folks. All three branches of the service, plus Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. One or two nurse ladies.
There were 3 from the 101st Airborne on D-Day, another from the 82nd AB, another from the ?17th at the Bulge. At last one Pearl Harbor survivor. Lots of fliers; I think the high school had a flight club at the time. Several flight instructors. One guy was the pilot of a P-51 Mustang in Europe, with like 130 missions under his belt. One or two "genuine heroes; ask them about their stories".Several more guys hit the beach on D-Day. A friend's grandfather hit the beach, fought in the Bulge, helped liberate 2 camps. All theaters of the war were represented; North Africa, Italy, Europe, Pacific, Aleutians. One guy on the Lady Lex. Lot of history there. Then, they came home and raised us, put us thru school, put up with our BS, and spoiled our kids. Not bad folks, our parents' generation. God Bless them, one and all.
