There is a quote which goes something like this: People want to be told lies, so we should lie to them. I'm not sure if it comes from that great "psychologist" Herr Goebbles or someone else. I did a search and found only this quote from Goebbles which is apropos to todays events.

Goebbels said:

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the

I was thinking about the economic data, and what is so apparent to me, should resonate with those who count. To claim there is little or no inflation is just a big lie. And they are getting away with it. I can vouch for all kinds of inflation (except wage), and is as obvious to me as was the lies surrounding the war against Iraq.

But I guess people want to be lied to, and will do nothing until consequences expose the lies. Or stated another way, people don't want to hear the truth, and want to believe a fairy tale instead.

"truth is the greatest enemy of the State.<b/>"
