Pretty clear to me the answer is no, I don't see anyone even asking that one any more. I think Q gave it a shot and it didn't work out, probably Motorola's fault!
I would question whether QChat is an improvement over ReadyLink.

Would CDMA2000 not improve Nextel’s current voice network?

By a lot, but that is not their primary concern.

What they see in Flash-OFDM is the following:

A) A data add-on that allows them to keep their competitive advantage in PTT intact for the time being.

B) A broadband solution competitive with DSL/Cable, allowing them to pay the bills competing in the broadband market, while working on adding Flash-OFDM into the handset as the data portion of their mobile services.

C) The necessary latency to offer a VoIP PTT solution that exceeds iDEN performance.

and D) The required performance to eventually use VoIP to replace their sorry voice system(with iDEN). They would then be an all-IP network.

E. And, what to do with the profits? Certainly not make the mistake again of buying other stuff that had fallen 50% or more thinking they couldn’t go any lower (CSCO, JDSU, LU, etc, etc )

Boring old CD's maybe, but if I start going on those bus trips up at the bank, I am publicly giving you my premission to shoot me.....lol
