Euro2004 started with some real fireworks

euro2004.com

First, the Greeks shock the hosts Portugal 2-1 when noone gave them a chance. This was the biggest win in national Greek soccer history. This Portuguese team, after the Waterloo in Korea by the USA Team, have managed to choke, can't believe they still have the same coach, what a bunch of prima donnas.

Then Spain beat Russia 1-0. So Greece and Spain are the leaders in this group and play next when Portugal is facing a must win against the Russians.

Then in Group B today there was one of the most memorable games ever with an eding straight out of the movies.

England is up 1-0. late in the second half this kid Rooney (who is a faster version of Owen) breaks away and is brought down, easy PK. Beckham steps up and chokes as Baarthez (his former teammate, how do you make up plots like this?) saves and gives France some hope. Now, it's stoppage time, Zidane gets a free kick outside and he shoots a marvelous shot, GK is frozen, 1-1....so, it is a tie, each team gets a point, right?....not so fast, the english lads obviously stop playing and a defender inexplicably kicks the ball back to his goalie, without seeing Henry who easily takes and is brought down by the goalie, easy PK, (clock stops at PK of course, because there were probably less than 10 seconds left!!!!!), Zidane easily converts, and VOILA, France wins 2-1!!!!!
It kind of reminds me that Champions League final that Bayern Munich was dominating and winning 1-0 until in stoppage time Manchester UNited scored two freaking goals in less than a minute!!

Talk about choking or what for the English lads!!!

Games are on direct TV, all games for like $150 or so...Do not have Direct TV, so I got the next big thing, a real pass on euro2004. com, $14.95 you get about 10 minute highlight from each game and much more, in the second round I start hunting for a bar that may show the games.
