"Plenty around the world hate the U.S. (as many here seem to also)" It is not the U.S. that people hate, it is certain U.S. politicians and their supporters. It is perfectly appropriate to hate these people, on account of they are either evil or extremely stupid, except for the ones that are both evil and stupid.
