Gee. This sounds like it may be something of note. You would think it would make the 'news' in some form, or the 'research' reports, or ...

Somehow, I'll have to do a better job of researching things, but I sure don't know how without knowing exactly the conclusion. According to the following, it's all because the CTO is leaving or that 300mm wafer fabs are ahead of schedule. Really good reporting!

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW)

Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) dropped 16 percent to $7.62. The world's largest chip foundry announced Friday that Chief Technology Officer Chenming Hu intends to resign July 20 to resume his academic career.

Taiwan Semi stated it knew when Hu joined the company that he would eventually return to academia. His duties will be merged into the research and development organization headed by Senior Vice President Shang-Yi Chiang.

Also on Friday, Taiwan Semi announced chip production was ahead of schedule at its newest 300mm wafer factory and that it has boosted production of 200mm wafers at another factory.

Now my question is ... stops have triggered today, one guesses because we are now exdividend. I'll sure be interested to see if I really get the dividend on my FMR account.
