Thats what I wonder. "To keep the US dollar worth anything at all, the foreigners have been buying Treasuries and GSE bonds. If they were to convert it to their own currencies in the foreign exchange market, the Clownbuck would sink into the sea" What are the ultimate plans for all this US currency the Asian CB’s are accumulating? Seems a raw deal that Asians work hard to build "stuff" for the US consumer just to have to "burn" the money they receive for these goods to keep their currencies relatively worth less so they can ship more stuff to the US! It's a run away train. The politicians in Japan buy US treasuries and hope the "scheme" doesn't come unglued on their watch. Its really basic - what happens to the price of something there is too much of? The price tanks - this WILL happen to the US $$$ - unless Asia actually starts to burn the US currency they have accumulated. Meanwhile periodically Grampa Greenspam appears and reassures everyone that all is well. I suspect Greenspam died years ago and its just a look-a-like automatron they pull out to talk and reassure everyone now -<G> .
