Bush could have had this recovery. The tech economy has been trying to recover for almost 2 years now, starting with Amazon's outstanding quarter about 18 mos ago that initiated their stock rise from the low single digits. But it takes some decent stewardship from a president to allow a recovery to happen, even though market forces are driving it. Basically, the CIC needs to "get out of the way" and project a positive attitude, while trying to smooth over geopolitical issues that have been in existance for 30 years. Bush did not do that. He started *beating the war drums* on Iraq in 02, causing the economy to fall off totally and the result of this was that millions of people were laid off and dealt a blow of unnecessary hardship. Then iraq caused global instability and gas prices rose, another blow to the US economy. All of this was preventable of course. But Bush had his own agenda whatever the hell it was, and consequently the entire Bush period has been one lingering recession for most average citizens. As soon as Kerry gets in, everything will be back to normal and better. But not with Bush- aka the reincarnation of Carter in economic terms.
