Not a minority, anymore. The country is, finally, coming to my position.
You're certainly not in the minority when it comes to ignoring the repercussions of collusion by France and Russia to prevent Saddam from having to obey the UNSC.
In fact, you could give a sh*t less about the fact that Chirac and Putin were running interference for Saddam so they could salvage those lucrative oil contracts and preserve the viability of the billions of dollars in loans they had extended to his regime. You don't even want to acknowledge their complicity in supporting that brutal regime and undermining the integrity of the UN.
It's, somehow, all the fault of the US. All the corruption, brutality, and intolerance that exists in that region is ALL because of the US policies, past and present. Don't blame anyone else. Don't assign blame and responsibility on a proportional basis to either the local governments or other international actors.
Nope.. just play partisan politics and use it to attack a candidate that you don't like. That's your myopic view of the world. You can't see the forest for the trees.
Well Jacob, you had better get this through your head... Chirac and Putin could care less about this country. They would LOVE to see America's power and prestige take a shellacking so that they could step in and win influence in the region for THEIR OWN AGENDA!!!
And it ain't just Bush, pal.. It will be KERRY as well... They try and use their leverage against Kerry too, should he win. And he will have to make a decision whether he's going to permit the US to subordinate its interests to TotalfinaElf and Lukoil, or stand up for what's right..
Is that what you're goal is? You're willing to see the US go hat in hand to two countries that complicitous in creating this situation in the first place by supporting Saddam in the UN? Are you ready to see the region go to sh*t in a hand-basket for the benefit of French and Russian oil companies??
A good portion of the reason we're there now is because of their lust for Iraqi oil, and I DIRECTLY BLAME them for undermining the stabilization of Iraq by providing a unified UN front to support Saddam's overthrow.
And the oil for food scandal is CLEAR EVIDENCE OF THAT.
But that's an "inconvenient fact" that doesn't support your twisted and myopic view of the world. Now isn't it??
So stuff that in your pipe and smoke it...
