"The only trend I see is bullshit"

I have been surprised for quite some years, thinking that the piling of bullshit actually has some kind of limit. This B.S. is pervasive in our society, our leadership in all aspects. If it isn't outright B.S., it is spin.

Your earlier post about the secret government within the US was right on I thought. I live under the British parliamentary system, but have admired the U.S. system for its ability to get things done. I also thought the oversight committees, checks and balances were admirable. However, I too have wondered about all the secrecy in many departments, and wondered who really was in charge. Such secrecy, to that extent, is not in the parliamentary tradition for sure. Apparently Americans must feel comfortable with how things are done, the lack of visibility etc. all under the umbrella of "national security".

I don't know if it is true, but I have read (can't quote) that even the President does not have clearance for some of the files. Maybe they figure he doesn't have a need to know? The guy they've got there now, probably doesn't want to know. And if you remember Rumsfeld's comments about unknown knowns and known unknowns, it should clear everything up.
