AS, recall that immediately prior to the Bush order to march into Iraq, the stock market had stalled since the investors held on to their money. The economy was at a standstill. Bush thought he could earn a quick victory in Iraq, then come back home and concentrate on the economy to prop it up in time for his re election. So he chased away the International weapons inspectors from Iraq, ordered the troops, who indeed moved swiftly to Baghdad and captured it. Then Bush's troubles started. He saw that Iraq was a quagmire and not he quick and easy victory he thought he would achieve like Desert Storm.
