I believe that the screening for an anti-telomerase compound
must be done in cell culture with cancer cells to be useful.
An inhibitor to the enzyme that can't pass into the cell is
useless. This makes the demands on the inhibitor much more difficult.
In addtion, the inhibitor must not adversely alter other cellular
enzymes or it may harm healthy cells. I think a drug is a long
way off. If anti-telomerase trails are less then a year away,
where are the mice (xenograft) studies? Any referances?
