rose,

Just moseying on over here to reply to your earlier post. Thought maybe this didn't quite cut it as "international news" for Scott's thread. <g>

we lived in a turn of the century farm
house on a small farm in grafton in the
mid seventies. actually, one mile west
of grafton is the small village of wicklow
- at the time it was nothing but a store/gas
station at a corner of wicklow road and
hwy.#2. our farm was north on wicklow
road at the top of the hill.

There are a lot of wonderful older houses, farms and other buildings all along Hwy #2. We often drive along it and stop off to see the many historic sites along the way. My mother grew up in a town along the St. Lawrence River. Her dad was the lockmaster at one of the old locks before the Seaway went in, so there's a bit of nostalgia attached to the region. Lots of history everywhere you look all along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence.

lots of happy memories there.

Yes, I'll bet.

you live in a nice part of the country.

Well, it's all pretty wonderful, but I do think this area is especially nice. Plenty of lakes and rivers. Wonderful place for tripping around on foot or by canoe -- both of which I do often.
