The king's english, as opposed to Americanized English.

My father's family came from northern England--Nottinghamshire(western edge of Sherwood Forest). I've often wondered how their particular English accent sounded when they arrived in 1867. Just read an interesting book entitled "Albion's Seed: Four British Folkways in America".
It describes the 4 areas of England that provided the 1st settlers in USA, & demonstrates how their traditions & language can still be observed & heard in New England, Pennsylvania region, Virginia area & the mountain settlers.
