Why isn't it reasonable to expense this push?

The push was when the company bought back shares on the open market. When Intel buys back a share for $28 they are gaining $28 in value. That's the push I was referring to.

Now let me ask you a question. Did you think that when people exercise options they are provided the shares at no cost? Did you realize that the options were priced at the fair market value when granted and if the holder made a ton of money by exercising them that means the share price went up and the shareholders made a ton of money too? Your earlier comments made it seem that you were unaware of these facts.

Another question: If someone is promised a future bonus for meeting performance goals should that bonus also be expensed right away?
