MONTREAL, Aug. 19 /CNW/ - Air Canada is expanding codeshare service to more destinations in Germany and introducing codeshare service to Ukraine from Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. New services to Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, Munich, Stuttgart, Kiev and Odessa begin operation August 25, 1997 via Frankfurt in cooperation with the carrier's Star Alliance(TM) partner, Lufthansa. Seats are now available for sale.

"Extending Air Canada's reach to eight more destinations in Europe represents an important step in bringing the benefits of the Star Alliance network to Canada," said Rupert Duchesne, Air Canada's Vice President Marketing. "Work is well under way with all our Star Alliance partners to develop the worldwide network and offer customers unparalleled convenience."

Air Canada and Lufthansa offer up to three times daily non-stop service between Toronto and Frankfurt, and daily non-stop service between Vancouver-Frankfurt and Calgary-Frankfurt. In addition, Montreal/Halifax-Frankfurt service will be expanded next near. These flights will connect in Frankfurt to the intra-Germany and Ukraine flights operated by Lufthansa offering up to three times daily service.

In May, 1997, Air Canada, Lufthansa, SAS, Thai International and United Airlines formed Star Alliance, "The airline network for Earth," providing customers with global recognition, reciprocal lounge privileges and a wide range of other benefits.
