Well, obviously they couldn't throw their arms down unilaterly. But, you bet your ass Isreal would be suing for peace if the U.S. announced that we were witholding our $4 Billion subsidy to their government to show our displeasure with their failure to come to terms with the Palestinians. We can affect the peace process in a very real way. As far as the Palestinians are concerned, I'm sure after so many decades of fighting with Isreal, they'll be happy to settle. The main obstacle at this point seems to be conservative Likud opposition in Isreal to giving land back to the Palestinians. Understandable, but it's time to make some compromises, enough killing already. The U.S. could dangle that $4 Billion and make them think real hard about peace.
