lambeth,
"This good cop/bad cop--Jeckyl/Hyde stuff is getting weird."
Weathermen are held to higher standards. Its absurd and weird.
I'm still thinking about your post from a few days ago, relative to the oscillations of Greenspeak. At some point there is going to be a public proclamation of these inconsistencies, and then maybe we find out what is behind the curtain that is making Greenspan more nuts than usual. I don't have the answers, but I'm finding Greenspan more disturbing that ever before and there must be a reason for this behavior. Fed statements that deflation concerns have passed are just bs and the rabbit is running wild to avoid the dogs or the hunters. As your post implies, we may be a lot closer to the "event" than many believe. I'm still secure holding gold, but something about Greenspan's lack of concern for inflation is telling, and your thoughts just made sense to me.
Enjoy your posts. Thx

What if the Inflation is Peaking Right Now? Let's throw out for a moment the wacky govt. numbers and grant the much higher, independently figured numbers indicating much higher inflation--right now--and the deeply negative interest rates. Again, let's grant that inflation is running at least 6% as some say, if not higher.
Well, what if that is the peak? What if the supposed further explosion in inflation is not coming, and that the 25% rise in oil in just the last 6 mos. along with other commodities is already engineering a new recession in the US--which is about to be revealed like a sledgehammer falling?
Have we all been cowed by the govt. inflation numbers, even as we doubt them, into thinking that a gargantuan inflation still lies ahead of us? Again, what if we simply accept that the Terrible Inflation is already with us?
Doesn't that make it easier, a little easier then, to see how much closer we might be to the triggering--and the onset--of the Monster Deflation?
What if the trigger has already been pulled? |
