Taikun,
1) when I was 16 I could get a job at any department store in Montreal in sales even if I couldn't speak French (I could but it was irrelevant). A French Person could not.
As Arnold would say... Payback's a bitch. It will end... but I'm only 48 and that's BIG demographic n'est-ce pas ?
2)Quebec is the only Province allowed to have their own, So ? What is your point ? They are also the only province with a huge francophone population...
3) French has to be taught at schools across Canada despite many provinces having a French-speaking population. In Vancouver, for example, teaching Chinese would be more useful. I agree that Chinese would be more useful and in the west as i understand it this can be had... I guess learning a second language is intellectually demotivating ? Sounds much like the American anti Hispanic attitude... In Toronto I can get my driving license in at least 15 languages other than French... Let's stomp that out too... BTW the French as a second language is not the big waste in our schools ... that simply racist right wing wacko hyperbole... (geez and I intend to vote Conservative June 28th ... what is wrong ...)... Also my kids go to French School at no extra charge ... guess it depends on your viewpoint as to the benefits... Do you you know how hard it is for the average Portuguese or Spanish speaker to Learn French ? or vice versa... not hard as I understand it.. not hard at all...
4)French, as great cost to manufacturers which is passed on to all consumers. I've worked with many manufacturers ... Huge extra cost is tired old bullshit IMO... you translate the English.. get the plate made... one setup charge... you need it even if it's only English.. and off you go... In the initial stages back in the 70's in Quebec it sure caused some hardship... Can't you just see the US saying we label in American ONLY to China... What don't like it ? too bad... BTW My spoken is fine... and those that can wite and translate French English perfectly today are a dime dozen... Ain't no big deal... IMO
5)Yep that was a FEDERAL LIBERAL adventure to counter the Yes vote in Quebec.. and one of the reasons I've been exhorting Malcolm et al NOT to vote Liberal.. BTW Gilles Duceppe the pro separation Bloc Leader wants answers on this too and hammered the incumbent both nights on this issue... whodathunkit... Isn't life strange...
6) Gee I went to McGill isn't still and English University ? Yeah in fairness I know it's full of those damn Bilingual French students planning to take over the world... by subvention...
7)I LOVE the CBC... helps me get a pulse on what 7 million Quebecers are thinking .... Plus rdriving right across te country I canget the same story uninterrupted...

Pick on us OK but what about the canoe museum a federal initiative... the gun registry ... federal initiative... .... get the picture... The Quebec stuff is noise... don't fall into that trap...

Also don't confuse the Quebec gimmes with French elsewhere in Canada... as many westerners do... The Bloc and the PQ want a separate Quebec... not to be the champions of the all the French in Canada although they pretend sometimes when convenient...

And yet they still bellyache. Anyone with leverage uses it... Just is...

When the gov’t should be spending its time on serious national issues Yes but to say that this is not happening because of Quebec is at best uninformed and at worst ... well ... I'll just say propaganda...

Bombardier-more pork barreling for a QuebecYou mean like the recent automaker pork barreling I brought up in Ontario that Duceppe also brought up ? The Feds refused to bail out St-Thérese ... It's a Canadian and dare I say it American thing NOT a Quebec thing... Don't get stuck in xxxxxx rhetoric......

in France they find the French Canadian tourists speak a ‘quaint’ form of old French The French are pretentious snobs ...You know... please do not confuse them with us down to earth Québecois... ;o) If I hear some other tool go one about Parisian French I think I'll go balistic.. Tell the former Parti Québecois leader Jacques Parizeau that he is a quaint provincial... what ? he graduated from the LSE ? You mean he and Mick are alumnus ? ... far out man... Remember all those guys in France are unlike Americans and Canadians .... those guys were afraid to take a chance... so they stayed home.. You know that Abram's village I mentioned in another post... they speak Acadian French (That's why I have trouble with it) Like Lousiana ... yes that is older and quaint... but that isn't modern Quebecois man... You think there is no old quaint French in France... ROTF... BTW I think the Acadians have even less use for the French than right wing yanks... afterall Louis deserted them remember ?

Anyway.. especially the 50.5% that voted to stay in the last referendum. The other 49.5% believe in democracy too.. so they are OK in my book... BTW I voted PQ in 76 and NDP in 90... and now I'm leaning to Harper...

regards
Kastel
