Been doing a lot of thinking on the possible origins of the
name of this golf tournament.

Shinnecock.

I believe this area of Long Island was named after the
Shinnecock Indians.

If my 7th grade Algonquian language class serves me correct I
think Shinnecock translates to Well Endowed Native American.
