Ten, re: politicians On both sides of the isle, these guys will say whatever they need to say to get elected. They have teams of really smart people taking the public mood, and they will feed back precise recommendations on how to exploit one group without alienating another. This is marketing, plain and simple. Bush was the compassionate conservative, the consensus builder. Is that a flip or what? You are taking the republican rhetoric seriously, Kerry is no more a flipper than any of these other guys, regardless of party. The pols knew exactly how they would paint Kerry before the primaries began, they talked openly about it. Anybody with a long congressional record can be painted as a flipper. So please don't tell me that either one of these guys isn't a politician first and foremost. The thing about Bush is we know his actions as President, and they are a disaster. Even though Kerry is an unknown, he can't be worse; no one has ever been worse. John
