I think that's a very fair analogy. Japan's imperialist ambitions in East Asia and her grab for raw materials being the proximate condition that led to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The U.S. was threatening to cut off Japanese energy supplies, and effectively had declared war on Japan. Japan responded with the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Since Japan's defeat of Russia in what was it, 1905?, she had clear imperialist ambitions on South East Asia. Shortly after WWI, she would annex Manchuria, and eventually take over from the Dutch in Indonesia, push into the Phillipines, Thailand, etc.

It's relative early stage, but we haven't had the K-wave bust yet. The militarization of Japan, and nations generally, didn't take place in earnest until the gold standard broke in the early '30's, and militaristic and fascist governments arose around the world.

Seems like a fair analogy to me svenlar. Where's your objection to the "misinformed puppy" as your referred to JW.

Glenn
