Let us try an issue discussion. It is my contention that the special interests of each party prevent rational discussion and solution.

Energy is one of the most obvious. The issue is multifaceted. I see it as both supply and demand. One side attacks the supply the other promots the demand. The answer lies in both. We need supply and we need conservation. The greens want reductions in CO2 and oppose nuclear energy. The left wants high fuel standards and the votes of Detroit auto workers - the greatest of ironies. The right wants SUVs.

Neither candidate has the guts to stand out and make the case for the combined solution.

Personally it is my opinion that the left has done the best job. They have created the shortage by restricting supply resulting in higher prices --- and a great issue.
