Now for the small print. USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, ABC News, CBS News, NBC, News, et al
All of the above and more disgorged themselves in an orgy of glee this morning with the NEWS (they reported) that 9/11 Commission, in its preliminary findings, had concluded that there was no evidence to support the thesis that there was a connection between Sadaam Hussein and al-Qaeda. Furthermore, these illustrious dispensers of wisdom and knowledge crowed loudly that the 9/11 finding debunked and disproved any claim by the Bush administration for its invasion of Iraq.
Now, in the late afternoon, BOTH of the Co-leaders of the Commission DEBUNK the headline writers, accusing them of distorting the report at best and deliberately misleading the public at worst.
Both Hamilton and Kean decry the interpretation that the popular Press placed on their report.
Now, the question is: Will USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, et. al. bother to CORRECT their highly biased and deliberately misleading reportage.
The answer is "Don't hold your breath!"
These newspapers and news outlets proved this morning and in highly dramatic fashion that they are not interested in reporting the truth.
THEY WANT TO GET BUSH. THEIR REPORTING IS THE AMMUNITION THAT THEY USE. THEIR FALSE WORDS ARE THE BULLETS IN THEIR GUNS AND THE ARROWS IN THEIR QUIVER.
It takes the truth a long time to catch up with the falsehoods. This is a fact that the dispensers of distortions know all too well. They have dispensed the distortions. They are not about to offer up any corrections however false their distortions and however true the corrections. |
