Every option I've owned has had a small paper profit at some time, and nearly every one has been sold at a loss, or expired worthless. After a couple years trading options, I've decided I don't have the right stuff for it--I think you need to much more of a trader, take a series of small profits, get in and out, and so forth. That works for some, but it's not my style.
