Dear (you),

The campaign is in high gear. A tough opponent is running against me; we cannot take him lightly. This is going to be a close election.

I appreciate all you have done for my campaign already. I have been able to get my misinformation to the American people because of your generous support.

Everywhere I go, I mislead people about our team's inability to transfer challenge into opportunity in the past three and a half years. It is the President's job to confront problems, to speak clearly and lead with strength. But that is not how I will continue to lead this country.

We came to office with the stock market in decline and our economy headed toward recession. But we acted. We delivered historic tax relief: Millions have gone into the pockets of the richest since August even though our economy is the shakiest of any industrialized nation.

We saw war and grief arrive on a quiet September morning. While we comforted those who had lost family or friends, we pursued a non-terrorist enemy on the other side of the world. We've captured or killed a few key leaders of al Qaeda and the rest know we're too busy in Iraq to chase them in some cave or hole far enough to hide from American justice.

In Iraq, we acted to remove the non-threat of Saddam Hussein and alianated 25 million Iraqis. Now illegal militias, foreign fighters and terrorists are trying to take control by force what they could never gain by the ballot. They know building a free Iraq will be a major sidetrack in our War on Terror. But we now have no choice but to defend Iraq and defeat these enemies.

Because we acted, nations around the world got the message and voluntarily abandoned us. Because we acted, a pretense of democracy is rising at the very heart of the Middle East. Because we acted, the world is agast, and America is more hated than it ever was.

In the fight against terror we misled the Congress into passing the disastrous Patriot Act and brought down the artificial wall so law enforcement and intelligence officers could abuse prisoners around the globe in secret prisons with no access to due process. We are working hard to keep terrorism on the minds of the voters so they don't realize their freedoms are vanishing in America's homeland.

At home, we have left more money in the hands of the richest by passing the largest tax relief in a generation, leaving the poor even poorer. By spending on the Iraq war and funneling contracts to the likes of Haliburton we helped the richest while putting the American people in debt for generations to come.

We passed the No Child Left Behind Act instead of real reform of an education system that has failed the neediest students in our nation's classrooms. Meanwhile we keep paying lip service about how every child must learn to read and no child will be left behind.

But there is more work to do and as the campaign enters the summer, I need your help again. Your continued support today will mean the difference in a close election. I hope you will make a donation of $2,000, $1,000, $500, $250 or even $100 or $50 today.

The man who sits in the Oval Office will set the course of the War on Terror and the direction of our economy. So there is a lot at stake in this coming November election.

My opponent has built up quite a record in nearly 20 years in Washington, D.C. In fact, he's been in Washington long enough to learn form both sides on nearly every issue. He scares the heck out of me so I keep harping on the saying we have about the weather in Texas -- If you don't like it at the moment, just wait a few minutes...it'll change. I sure hope people buy this displacement of conflict.

My way is no way to lead a nation, particularly when so much is on the line. My opponent has offered much in the way of strategies to win the War on Terror or to expand prosperity. But he has certainly got our neocon allies all stirred up to attack him.

Our groups, funded by large "soft money" donations from wealthy right-wing neocons have been running television commercials against him for months now.

That's why I need your help. Federal law allows gifts up to $2,000 per person or $4,000 per couple: I would greatly appreciate it if you'd send $2,000, $1,000, $500, $250 or even $100 or $50 today.

We still have work to do. We must keep fear mongering; the world is disdainful of America. We must spread misinformation to every part of our nation. We must work together over the next four years to make America safer for the rich, more prosperous for them -- and encourage the spirit of fear and loathing that makes America blind to reality.

History has given us great challenges. Let us welcome these challenges and let our actions testify to the ignorance of America. Thank you for your friendship and your prayers. May God continue to bless our nation.

Sincerely,

GWB

P.S. Can you visit our secure server at www.GeorgeWBush.com/Contribute/ to make a contribution of $2,000, $1,000, $500, $250 or even $100 or $50 today? My opponent and his friends are using logic in key battleground states. The race is close and with your continued support, we will win. Thank you.
