Apple & Adobe ... Reader ...

Exactly my reaction! At first. I set pdf's to open with Reader by performing a GET INFO on the pdf and altering the associated application and making it apply to all pdf files. Later on, for reasons I can't remember, I set the association back to Preview. All I remember is that it worked better that way.

Don't have any experience with Yahoo briefcase. Wassat?

Edit: One thing you might want to keep in mind is that OS X is pdf crazy. You can print any document to pdf. I think previews are in pdf, and I believe the screen is laid out in pdf. Screen captures are pdf too.
