I didn't accuse him of lying, at least I didn't mean to. I was talking about the technique. I suggested that he was using the same technique he was criticizing the opposition for using--making an outrageous statement and treating it like it's gospel. He's making a false assumption and thus is interpreting incorrectly. He's evaluating the reactions of folks on the other side from the basis of someone who believes that statement to be true, not one like them who believes it to be false or unknown.

BTW, during that discussion of the "big lie" technique I had a sense of deja vu. There was discussion many moons ago where the "big lie" technique was argued but I'm drawing a blank on the context. Do you remember anything about that?
