If web-based email is a specific goal, joining "just another chat group" is not, (nor ever intended to be) the all-bestest means to that goal. One might seek out a web-based email service for — uh ... web-based email. The web-based email at SI was just an ancillary service much in the way an Italian seafood restaurant also offers a double mocha. If the double mocha just isn't up to your standards, well, you went to a seafood restaurant, not a coffee shop. Go to a coffee shop for your coffee. And order a nicely seared ahi tuna at the coffee shop. That way, you can complain about the seafood that the coffee shop serves and get double the whining satisfaction.

Typically in Life, there is not "one panacea" that is going to cater and care for your every whim. You sort of have to actually effort yourself to achieve prime satisfaction. I know it's a darned unfair shame that nobody will do everything for you. But that's Life.
