"What is it that conservatism stands for in 2004?"

<<...Limited and fiscally prudent government? Not! $400 Billion deficits and massive expansion of government authority and beauracry ala Homeland Security Dept.

Honest government? Give me a break. Even some Republicans are saying George W. Bush is the most dishonest President since Richard Nixon. His record of lies and deceit speaks for itself. Makes Clinton's lies seem like schoolyard nonsense compared to the whoppers coming from Bush that have led us to war. Now, we have these "honest" Republicans trying to supress the information that reaches the American people with votes against disclosing the details of the torture memos. Put it on record, the Republcians are against disclosure.

Constitutional government? Two unconstitutional wars under Bush. The power to declare war rests with the Congress. And, the Republicans have given us the PATRIOT Act which strips us of some of our most fundemental rights as Americans, such as the right to be secure in our papers, the right to a trial by jury and due process, etc. Jose Padilla is an example of this policy in action. In over two years, he has not been tried for the crimes he is alleged to have been plotting. His due process rights are being violated.

What is it that the conservatives stand for exactly? War, lies, unconstitutional goverment. I find it so funny that they still have the gall to wage a war against "drugs", while they have no problem seeing Americans killed and maimed in two real unconstitutional wars. As far as I know, noone has ever died from a marijuana overdose, but many many have died in the endless wars this country has engaged in. This country has become a pathetic joke. A state that exists to serve the interests of a corporate elite. That seems to be the one thing Republicans are trying to conserve in 2004. The ongoing corporate oligarchy in America that is pro-war, pro-lies, pro-anything no matter how immoral (even torture apparently), as long as they can maintain their power...>>
