Took some creative googling, Mike, but I found it!

tidalpool.org

Save to hard drive but quick, before it goes poof. (g)

I haven't collected prints, only concentrated on photo books thus far. I must have a couple of hundred of them by now. When it comes to original prints, I only have one of note:

proofsheet.com

It's one of only three color images (some say four, but I've never seen the fourth) that Josef Sudek made, months before he passed on. He used to say that he would do color in his next life but shortly before he died he couldn't resist getting a head start, I guess. (g) I found it in Prague, in 1990. I also found an old Czech "Fotografie" magazine in which all three of the color photos are featured and attributed to him -- should anyone doubt it really is a color Sudek. It's a c-print, which as you know is not truly an archival medium. For that reason I have it on loan to the Institute of Arts in Minneapolis, where it's stored under ideal conditions until I find a permanent home I trust for it in a museum of my choice in Prague, where it belongs: a treasure such as this should not be in private hands, I think. I got it for $300. It's now valued by the Institute at about hundred times the amount. By far the best investment I have ever made. BTW, as far as I know, nobody knows what happened to the color negatives, which is a tragedy.

I don't know Yandy Richardson but made a note: should I ever come into some serious dough, I'll know where to spend it. (g)

And thanks for your kind invite -- next time I'm in DC I'll definitely take you up on the offer. If you're ever in Minneapolis, please do let me know, I'd love to share my book collection with you, and Keri is a fantastic cook.
