Of course, one of the things you will have to steel yourself for, if this book goes forward, is reviewers saying "too bad he didn't use a higher resolution camera".

the resolution fits the subject. these are extremely
intimate and candid shots, not poses. the act of
observation changes what is observed. even an open
stare would change the candid state of the subject.
the eyemod is a much better tool than a high resolution
camera to grab the quick sideways glance that michal
uses to capture these shots. in fact, you can feel
it when you look at the images - the sideways glance
from behind a pair of dark glasses.

i have reservations about a book though.

i think the 600X480 website is the perfect medium
for them. IMHO, the images are not coffee table material.
they have an immediacy to them... like photo journalism.
they'd print well on newsprint in an alternative
weekly rag... a street news... the kind the homeless
sell for spare change.

if he publishes a book, the pages should be newspaper
pulp with rough trimmed edges.

...and there should be handwritten street poetry and
graffiti on the opposing pages.

there won't be any money in it though...
until he's dead.

but it's worth doing. well worth it.
