Because of those "recent errors" you mention (how many more "errors" have been reported in the NYT, one might ask?), and because of the growing influence of the Internet, including blogs and the ability to access an incredible amount of information at the click of a mouse, individuals have the ability to find information from several sources, check facts as reported by the NYT...or any source for that matter....and make judgements based on that information. If the major media, who believes they run public policy, doesn't take that into consideration, they will become less relevant and eventually end up in the proverbial dustbin of history. (as I've heard stated so eloquently elsewhere)

IMO, not only do some conservatives but some liberals too realize this and are rapidly losing faith in the NYT.

Regardless of the outcome, modern news sources owes the public the courtesy of checking their facts.

Your own opinion of the NYT is duly noted.

which, by the way, is just the best newspaper in the world, bar none--even with its recent errors?
