You don't get it. 70 - 90% of those people hadn't done anything except be picked up in a sweep, or been named by someone under torture. They were being beaten sometimes to death, brain damaged, tortured with electricity, dogs, sleep deprivation, extremes of cold, tied in painful positions, beaten on wounds, denied medical help, stomped on, sodomized and forced to violate their religious taboos and restrictions... and we now acknowledge that hardly any of them had done anything suspect or had anything to offer. We're now releasing them in droves.
You are saying, Bill, that iyo all Iraqis deserve to be tortured, even beaten to death, whether they are innocent of any crime or guilty. That's a weird thing for an American to say. Truly weird.
I want to believe that you believe all those people were guilty of something terrible. |
