LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP with NO ADS??

Will the new SI be honoring the "lifetime membership" that some of us
were granted for being among the first to sign up (way back in 1996)?

When I tried the new site I noticed ads that, I would guess, would not
be a part of a properly configured "lifetime membership".

Is this a bug or will I need to look a Ads in the future?
