Or not voting at all, which, as I'd said, is a growing orientation of Libertarian voters.

If this is true then how can the LP ever expect to become a viable third party? Or expect it's ranks to swell. A high vote count could be one way of impressing new recruits to the party as they would feel the party is growing and their vote, efforts, and donations would not be wasted. Does the LP need the cob webs cleaned out?
