johnkerry.com - educate yourself Kerry and McCain, plus Cleland and Hagel have been the four most forceful senators in terms of working hard for veterans. They have worked in a completely bi-partisan fashion and put their partisan differences away. That is why it was realistic that Kerry was considering both McCain and Hagel as his running mate. They are all very close friends. The rightwing did a terrible thing slandering McCain, Kerry and Cleland the way they have. There's just no excuse for that kind of trash slandering Silver Star war heros.
