Hi, FL, You're right. I shouldn't ever post before nap time.

The rest of my post was just a grumpy take on the idea that the right language can substitute for ideas. The writer isn't clear enough on that.

There seems to an idea in the article the conservatives managed their success over the last while through some sort of a technical (psycho)linguistic trick. 'Tain't so.

Since before WW2 conservatives were the losers in the "war of ideas" and had to work on their weaknesses. Thus the establishment of the think tanks and the rather quick progress they had for a while during the Reagan era and shortly after.

But the early large gains they had because they started from so far down are over and the hard business of arguing their basic views further, and getting concrete gains in such areas as (eg) education, taxation policy, trade, is still ahead.

This is no time for conservatives to be triumphal in the face of "progressives" dismay.
