re: I am curious as to what others think Iran is doing.

What's their ideal solution wrt Iraq? How do their actions play towards that solution?

Iran is mostly Shia; in fact, of the major Muslim countries, only Iraq and Iran have majority Shia populations. I think that's why Saddam was so threatened by Iran.

Having said that, I can't imagine Iran would willingly take on the US and the UK. So I have to wonder if the pickup of the Brits was a mistake and now they don't want to appear too easy by just handing them back over..........or is Iran pissed off and trying to pick a fight.

It seems obvious to me, with their recent nuclear statements, and the move against the British, that they are not a big fan of stability in the region.

You're probably right......but they have internal problems that could be exacerbated by external instability. Their population.....particularly the young Iranians have been pushing for a liberalization of religious law and a move towards democratization. The Ayatollahs could lose control if they went to war.

I wonder how far they will go?

That's the million dollar question!

BTW Clinton was on Oprah.....I just watched some of it. I never realized how much I liked him as president. He can walk, talk and smile all at one time.......its amazing. <g>
