Iraq can progress to a democracy fairly rapidly

uh huh. But they just elect the top religious leader who hates us the most. Any savvy Iraqi "politician" will run on an "I hate America" platform, because that idea is popular.

The only cultural power in Iraq is Islam. To think that the Iraqis are going to throw out 1500 years of religion and do everything our way is vainly naive.
