I keep reading that the analysts think storage is a commodity, I don't have that opinion personally- But I don't know.

The reason I spend time looking at storage is because compliance software is the *only* emerging enterprise software space as far as new companies and VC in silicon valley. Compliance software basically competes with something that exists currently (very immature) that is being sold by Legato, now EMC. Related to compliance are SANs, and in reading about SANs I discovered that fibre channel is the preferred platform which looks to continue despite Cisco's entry and push toward ethernet/IP, and there is an operating system for fibre channel called FOS, sortof like IOS I guess. Sounds like an opportunity to me, a software platform makes storage a viable option for investment as far as I'm concerned, but there are these lingering "commoditization" concerns. BTW Qlogic as far as I know only builds the chips so they don't have the software exposure.
