”… understanding the difference is relevant to comprehending the point of this discussion.

In a perfect world with a perfect system of human justice we would have a perfectly aligned system of natural rights being reflected via derivative rights. We don’t have this type of perfection. You may think your view of society has achieved it but I bet we could agree every other view of human justice falls short of perfection.

This is why we need to take some time to understand the very relevant difference between natural rights and the derivative rights granted by society. Where do we find ourselves lacking, where are the gaps, what about omissions, and have we simply missed our target in some cases?

Your answer would likely be that society is always the correct measure… until it changes and then it is correct. I view things differently.

Me: ” I also have the natural right to liberty and to be treated justly by others.”

You: ”Of course you have those rights. And of course society will punish anyone who thinks they may violate your rights as an issue of conscience. Their freedom of conscience does not trump your natural rights. Do you get it...yet!!??”

Of course I understand your point of view. You have posted the issue of rights being trumped several times. I have responded in a way that not only demonstrates my understanding of your point about ‘trumping’ but have offered another way of looking at it. You have, as yet, not demonstrated your understanding of my point of view.

Me: ”...you do not nor does the government have the natural right or the power to force me to serve someone or do anything to another person in a way that violates my conscience.”

This is because I have the natural right to freedom of conscience. Whenever you construct societal laws which encumber one member to provide a shield of opportunity to another you create a quagmire of litigious contention that mires in irresolvable conflicts. This is what we have in our current culture of societal co-existence. We are at a point in our social evolution where we should be ready to move beyond that.

I have the natural right to freedom of conscience, liberty, and to be treated justly by others. There is no contradiction in terms here and there is no circumstance where one natural right needs to be trumped by any other or consequated by another; since they are not separated entities but terms that are enmeshed with one another to form a concept. When you understand this you will be able to perceive a system of natural justice for all that can be supported by societal laws which never violate any of these three components of freedom.... instead of one in which we are always at one another’s throats and through which we empower our overlords... as in>>>
