Your assertions about the ease with which democracy can be established are reflective of the hubris that sent young American men and women into Iraq, where many of them died or were wounded because our military was ill-prepared for the realities on the ground. Unfounded fantasies about an "easy" transition to democracy is a leading cause of death for fine young Americans serving in the military. It is also a leading cause of death among Iraqi's. By the way -- the military did not want this war fought this way -- the bureaucrats and politicians called the shots and they called them wrong. Perhaps they will get re-elected -- perhaps not. But the bottom line is that Americans died because of their hubris.
