Now, that's just plain ridiculous. The President and Commander in Chief of the Last Superpower sits for seven minutes (I've heard longer, anywhere from 11 to 30 minutes) reading children's books while the nation is under attack? How could he know that they weren't going to target him personally, and that he might be placing those children at risk? How could he know that the attack might not have been a prelude to something even larger, and that he needed to get out, get briefed, and get in charge as quickly as possible? He didn't have to run out, he could have calmly but quickly called an end to the session and left without causing a stir. He froze, like a deer in the headlights.
