Well, when I ask if I'm better off after Bush took office, I have to say yes. My net worth is 30% higher today than it was at the end of 2000. Of course, that includes contributions as per my savings plan throuhgout those years. But we came away from the 2001-2002 meltdown fairly unscathed. I still have my job and actually got raises in the last two years. So I can't complain. I know I'm an anomaly and others are much less fortunate, but I still have to say that Bush/Greenspan created the perfect medicine to counteract the perfect storm. Lowering taxes, increasing government spending, and lowering rates were just what we needed. Now if Bush wins and he can get us out of Iraq leaving them a Democratic gov't, and then use his clout to eliminate our deficit in his next term, I will say he has been a very successful President during an EXTREMELY tumultuous period. I don't think enough people give the Bush admin credit for the enormity and sheer number of the issues that Bush has had to deal with during his first term. By comparison, Clinton's terms looked like a holiday vacation. The only critical thing Clinton had to do in his 8 years was to neutralize Osama, yet he failed at that. What did he accomplish anyway? I can't think of a single lasting impact he made.
